Not so gay Australia
While cities as Melbourne and Sydney do well on the Big Scale of Gay Friendliness, some parts of Oz are less welcome for friends of Dorothy. Quite a few of my Twitter friends remain in the closet for parents and family. One of them, B., is out to his parents now and he has disappeared from Twitter and Facebook.
International Driving Permit
Today I fetched my International Driving Permit. The idea was it would be more practical than carrying my passport around all the time. I was wrong.
Sydney Mardi Gras 2011 (+ video)
US students experience spring break in Florida, straight partydudes go to Carnaval de Rio, F1 Fanatics to the Grand Prix de Monaco, religious muslims visit Mecca. Gays should at least once in a lifetime experience Sydney Mardi Gras. Thé biggest gay pride event in the world. Forget World Pride or EuroPride, SMG is the one and only leading pride.
5 Days in Sydney!
I expect quite a lot from my five days in Sydney. It’s a high point of my Aussie Tour. The Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach, Bronte Beach, Manly Beach, shopping, going out…
Money, keys, passport!
I had a weird dream this weekend. I dreamt I was in the Belgian Embassy in Canbarra, overseeing the Australian War Monument. The embassy was full of people waiting. In the dream I lost my passport.

Australia Trip: 50 Days and Counting
In 50 days, on February 10 2011, I’ll be driven to Brussels Airport to start a long journey through London and Hong Kong to Melbourne. I’m really counting down now!
Canberra
I’m a ‘monument buff’. I like to visit parliament houses, headquarters, palaces, castles, monuments. I just like it. So it’s no wonder I included Australia’s capital Canberra in my tour.
Don't let it snow!
The London airports are – amongst airports in other regions and countries in Europe – closed as the snow blocks any normal air traffic. I really really really hope I won’t encounter such setback in February 2011.
